A rebreather is a piece of technology used by the people on Earth in 2149 to filter the dangerous toxins in the air, particularly when outside.
Overview
Rebreathers are simply placed over the mouth and the user breathes normally. Children even use them when outside at school. Travelers to Terra Nova are instructed to leave their rebreathers behind, either to be reused or recycled. Older rebreathers were much larger than those in 2149. A brand of rebreather, Rebreathex, produced a Rebreather 6000, supposedly one of the best on the market. (Genesis, Part 1, Nightfall, Countdown to Terra Nova)
