A Malcolmus Pterosauri is a flying pterosaur encountered by the people of Terra Nova.

Overview
The Malcolmus Pterosauri are about 2 feet high with large beaks and jet black skin with white markings. The males have bolder markings or are more colorful and decorative. The species also have a softer underbelly. They produce a pheromone to attract mates and often make shrill screeches when breeding. They have non-annual migrations of at least seven years where they return to their breeding ground, formerly the location of Terra Nova, in order to lay their breed, lay their eggs and hatch them before they return to the coast. History
After the arrival of the Tenth pilgrimage the Malcolmus Pterosauri began their migration back to their breeding ground, the land on which Terra Nova had been built and began attacking the people. Eventually Drs Elisabeth Shannon and Malcolm Wallace synthesized some of their pheromone and Jim Shannon and Commander Nathaniel Taylor lured the pterosaurs to another valley. (Instinct)
