Josh Shannon is the son of Jim and Elisabeth Shannon, brother of Maddy and Zoe and a member of the tenth pilgrimage.

Biography

Early life

Josh was born in 2132. During his teen years he learned to play guitar and was in a band with his girlfriend Kara. When he was 15, his father was arrested for assaulting a Population Control officer; Josh felt betrayed and abandoned when his family was forced to fend for themselves while his father was in prison. Terra Nova

Josh was allowed to accompany his mother and eldest sister through the time portal to Terra Nova. Rather than attending orientation, Josh wandered the marketplace where he met Skye Tate. She introduced him to her housemates, Max, Tasha, and Hunter. They invited Josh to join them Outside The Gates. Out in the jungle, Josh tasted the teens' frut moonshine, and helped cut up some fruit to make more. Skye also showed Josh some unusual rock carvings at a waterfall, but asked him to say nothing about it. When Sixers stole their rover's power cell, the teens were forced to take refuge from Slashers in a Sixer transport. Josh helped defend the others from attack until his father and a rescue team arrived. (Genesis, Part 1, Genesis, Part 2)

Some days later, Josh attended a jungle survival lesson and was also assigned to latrine duty in another section of the colony. He and Skye visited the marketplace, where Skye introduced him to Xiphkabobs. Josh noticed a vendor selling a guitar, and later attempted to trade him for it. During the night, while attempting to scare off a pterosaur, he and his father were attacked. Josh later helped defend his sisters after some pterosaurs got inside their house. Later, Josh and Skye shared a romantic kiss, but Josh quickly broke it off, still thinking of Kara. Skye took him to see Tom Boylan, the proprietor of the bar. Tom agreed to help Josh bring Kara to Terra Nova in exchange for Josh working at the bar. (Instinct, What Remains)

When Leah Marcos stayed at the Shannon's, Josh gave up his room to her slept on the couch, and the next day had to babysit both Leah and Zoe. Josh later found a note left by Leah which led Jim to believe that she was telling the truth about her captive brother. Boyland asked Josh to secret;u meet with Mira, who told Josh that he must one day do a favor for her in order to get Kara brought to Terra Nova. When Josh demanded proof that Mira could talk with 2149, he was allowed to communicate with Kara, who told him she had been picked for the next pilgrimage. (The Runaway, Bylaw, Proof)

Josh was required to steal Azimeth from the infirmary, however the stolen access card he used did not work, and instead opened the cabinet with sonic pistol, injuring himself. Later, he admitted to his parents what he had done and why. When Boylan was locked up, Josh asked his father to make sure he was ok. Josh was later on ditch digging duty near the water supply junction and stated that at first he hated Terra Nova but it has since grown on him. (Proof, Vs., Now You See Me)

Personality

Abilities and Skills

Josh has shown musical abilities, able to play guitar and was part of a band back on Earth. Music appears to be a passion of his as one of the personal items he brought with him was the latest music from some bands. Josh has also shown himself to be very brave, defending others from Slasher attack. He has shown a strong desire to bring Kara to Terra Nova, going so far as to lie and steal from his parents to ensure her passage on the next pilgrimage. (Instinct, Genesis, Part 2, Proof)
