Golad prison is a maximum-security facility that houses many inmates in small, poorly-filtered cells. The inmates are denied rebreathers, causing many to become ill from the polluted air. Inmates may perform manual tasks, such as making license plates. Jim Shannon was imprisoned here in 2147 until he escaped in 2149 and went through the time portal with his family to Terra Nova. (Genesis, Part 1)
