Biography
Early life
Elisabeth attended Northwestern Medical school. While studying there, she met and had a relationship with Dr. Malcolm Wallace, thought it ended because he did not want to have children. Later, Elisabeth met and married Jim Shannon, and they had two children, Josh and Maddy. Some years later, Elisabeth became pregnant with their third child, breaking the population law that restricted families to two children. A doctor friend helped Elisabeth secretly give birth to Zoe. The family successfully hid Zoe for three years, but when Population Control discovered her, Jim tried to forcibly intervene, and was sentenced to prison for attacking an officer. In 2149, Elisabeth was recruited to go to Terra Nova. She bribed a guard to get her into the prison where she gave Jim a laser cutter to help him escape prison. Jim smuggled himself and Zoe into Hope Plaza, and joined the family as they departed for Terra Nova. (Instinct, Genesis, Part 1)
Terra Nova
Elisabeth accompanied her family to Terra Nova, and went to work in the Medical department. Among her first cases was a was a hyperoxic patient. While treating a Sixer prisoner named Carter, who had been shot, Carter, overpowered her with a knife, demanding that the nearby guard surrender his weapon. Jim subdued Carter as he was about to assassinate Commander Taylor. Elisabeth later joined the search team to find her son Josh, Skye Tate, and several other teens who went OTG. When the team found Tasha, who had been attacked by Slashers, Elisabeth treated her. (Genesis, Part 1, Genesis, Part 2)
Sometime later, Elisabeth ran into Malcolm Wallace, learning he had arrived in Terra Nova on the fifth pilgrimage. When the colony came under attack from pterosaurs, Elisabeth helped study the creatures and then synthesized a concentrated pheromone, which lured the pterosaurs away from Terra Nova to a new breeding ground. (Instinct)
Elisabeth and Taylor went to investigate why communications with Outpost 3 had been lost. There they found the personnel infected with an unknown pathogen, causing them to partially lose their memory. Elisabeth became infected and lost her more recent memories, believing she was still in medical school. She attacked Malcolm and Jim when they arrived, but was calmed by Malcolm, who she believed she was still dating. Elisabeth examined what evidence was available, and with help from her husband, she was able to discover a cure. (What Remains)
Elisabeth examined Leah Marcos, a young Sixer girl, then offered to look after her for a short while. Maddy accompanied Elisabeth to the infirmary as part of an internship, though she, unlike Elisabeth, was unable to stomach this type of work. Elisabeth performed an autopsy on Ken Foster. When Zoe became interested in a damaged Ankylosaur egg, Elisabeth performed Innovo-surgery on the egg to save the young dinosaur. When Hunter Boyce came to the infirmary with stomach pain, Elisabeth discovered he was infected with a Taroca parasite, and had to surgically remove it. (The Runaway, Bylaw, Nightfall)
Elisabeth helps Jim investigate who stole Azimeth from the infirmary, hoping to retrieve some for a sick patient. Elisabeth later helped Zoe make a fake beard for her role as Commander Taylor in the harvest festival play. When Jim dug up an unidentified skeleton in the jungle near Pilgrim's tree, Elisabeth examined the corpse. Jim brought a blood drop belonging to the Sixer spy to Elisabeth for analysis. However, it was partially dissolved in some paint sealant and had to be removed first. (Proof, Vs., Now You See Me)
